Where:     Z Block Herb Garden, Rifle Range Road, Lismore

Excellent location for a run as everyone had a chance to wander around the herb garden and do a bit of weeding. A good run and walk as we managed to avoid Cynthia Wilson Drive - except for Canardleigh who arrived late and decided to run up it. The walkers managed to shortcut bits of the run (with the help of a map) arriving back at the Herb Garden at the same time as the runners.

Heaps of food, juicy melons, tasty quiches and salads - all prepared by the "boys". Downs Downs for the Hares - with a new song - plus the birthday girls of MissTaken, Rosie and Headlamps. We then all overindulged on a hummingbird birthday cake baked by MissTaken.

What a fantastic run and walk Slurrr!! We probably were never more than a kilometre from the start, but we must have done every lane and street on the inaugural South Lismore "Dunny Lane Run". The weather held, despite forecasts of showers, but a cross country walk and run ensured everyone got wet feet. Retread set the walk that followed the runners across the valley and then went anti-clockwise away from more mud. The runners following Hash Brown and Impulse turned clockwise, across paddocks, streams and barbed wire fences with several Hashers following John the Baptist and having fun with rocks in the water and with cow pats. Mike was suitably named Dung Beetle following an entertaining (?) dung throwing competition. ON Downs were also given to Goanna (me) for her inability to count and to Hash Brown for eventually retiring.

Aunty Lush served up an excellent Australia Day nosh of pie, peas and potatoes and led the singing of Advance Australia Fair.

Wear Green and Gold as it is an Australian Day Run - or blue and red - or just something "Australian"!

Last Run:

When:       Monday 23rd January
Hare:         John the Baptist
Where:     70 Invercauld Road, Goonellabah,

Last minute change of venue as the rain continues to thwart any hope John the Baptist has of setting a run from his property in Canaiba. Not that it was any drier in Invercauld Road as the wet and drizzly conditions continued all night. The runners set off trying to catch John as a the live hare, but gave up when the trail was washed away. John was left out in the rain, hiding behind trees, waiting to surprise the following hashers, eventually arriving back about 30 minutes after the runners! The walkers meanwhile did their own fast walk that avoided Cynthia Wilson Drive and arrived back at the same time as the runners (excluding John). Motherleigh's 50th run the previous week was obviously too much for her, as she piked out half way round.

On On back at John the Baptist's and Janelle's new residence was exhausting as everyone had to play ball with Bella. However the fabulous chicken, ham and salad was much appreciated and devoured by all.

Where:     404 Fredericks Road, Canaiba. Coming from Lismore take the first right turn past the Lismore Airport, continue past the Caniaba School. At the Peredenyne roundabout turn right & stay on Fredericks Rd, which turns into a dirt road. Turn right again at the Rose entrance – house is about 1km from the entrance. WATCH THIS SPACE - IF IT RAINS THE VENUE MAY CHANGE!

Last Run:

When:       Monday 16th January
Hare:     Mike and Miss Pushie
Where:     482 Ellis Road, Alstonville

Great turnout for virgin hares Mike and Miss Pushie, despite the drizzle, rain, hail, etc (?). 12 runners and 19 walkers had a soggy run/walk through the adjacent orchards, regretting that the maccas weren't more mature to provide shelter from the persistent rain. The runners also enjoyed a misguided lesson on cedar trees from John the Baptist - soon corrected by Hootoo. On On commenced back on the dry verandah with a blazing pizza oven - after we had stood for a roll call by Slrrr. Bituman asked if we were going to have a Bundy clock system next week. Lovely food and fabulous banana birthday cakes for Mike, shared also by Sue and Steve. An On Down was also given to virgin runner Bo. A great evening.

Hi Hashers,

A memorable run from Miss Taken's house in Lismore as the preceding thunderstorm, the heat and the hills took their toll and hashers slowly piked out along the trail. I think only John the Baptist and Way But did the whole trail! (obviously John the Baptist found his inner strength on the previous week's run)

This was the second version of the trail as the first was completely washed out by the earlier rain. Miss Taken provided an excellent feed of tacos and wraps and salad - ideal for the sultry conditions.

Next weeks run is at Mike and Miss Pushie's at 482 Ellis Road, Alstonville at 6pm. Take the Wardell Road out of Alstonville, cross over the Alstonville Bypass and turn immediately right into Ellis Road - drive 4.82 km along Ellis Road and the property is on the right hand side.

NO DOGS PLEASE - THIS IS RON'S TERRITORY! also bring a chair ...

Hi Hashers,

A good turnout to our run in Goonengerry considering the distance to travel and the prospect of leeches! A good run and walk on a few disused tracks which challenged the 'new shoe' brigade of Tea Bag and Bituman. The screams from the walkers echoed throughout the forest after falls, leeches and bull ants and I wonder what the Albert's lyrebirds will be mimicking next.

On On was back at the house, where the numbers were boosted by Hooto, Polarised and Procol who seemed to be working on Queensland time. A good feed on a glorious summer evening. Added entertainment was the offer of a free t-shirt ( surplus to our requirements) if anyone signed up to set a hash run this year!

Next weeks run is at Giulie and Bruce's at 36 Elton Street, Lismore at 6pm.

The hareline for the next few weeks is below and the Receding Hareline for the rest of the year is attached. I still have a few more t-shirts if anyone would like to put their name down...

A good turnout of the Hash stalwarts for the run on Boxing Day from Shelley beach. The runners ran north - the walkers walked south - and somehow all came back at the same time to a delicious smorgasbord of Christmas leftovers.

Nest weeks run will be in Goonengerry National Park - there will be a runners run and a walkers walk.

Start time is 4pm (NSW time) from outside Goonengerry School. We will start running from Goonengerry National Park and so need to car pool to go in as the tracks are narrow.

No dogs as 1080 bait has been laid.

ON ON will be back at our house - 86 Mafeking Road, Goonengerry. Please bring a chair.

Directions to Goonengerry School - get to Federal by whichever way you want.... Then from outside the Post Office/Shop/Petrol Station/Bottle Shop/Video Store in Federal - head north towards towards Mullumbimby and Goonengerry School is about 6km on your right hand side - just after the sign for Goonengerry.

To get to Federal; from Ballina - suggest via St Helena Hill and Coorabel; from Lismore via Bangalow Road and Eureka and from Alstonville via Booyong and Eureka.

Thanks Sue and Steve Miller, with help from Liz Fawns, for a brilliant run on Monday night. It is so great to run and walk through virgin territory. The Christmas fare was exceptional, even the cold fruit mince pies (so many ovens, so little time). John Rose got a hand full when he reached for a dry cow pat to toss that was only crusty on the top, nothing that a good scrub with soap and water before dinner could not fix. Devils Elbow was tackled by Graeme and the Baptist, while the rest ran to the lookout overlooking Tucki.

NEXT RUN - Boxing Day

The next run is from Shelley Beach dugout on Monday 26 December from 5pm. Meet opposite the Shelley Beach Cafe (not Shelleys on the Beach).
Please bring a plate of Chrissy leftovers to share (suggest some cold ham or turkey as well). Hash will not be bringing the drink esky so also bring whatever you want to drink. Hash plates and cutlery will be there.
The run will be a live hare with swim afterwards.

We celebrated Leah's birthday with a fantastically decadent cake make by Little Miss Pushy. Phil also had a down down for his 59th the next day, and Dragon the Chain for her **th the following Friday.

The Trinity lights were ablaze when we finished and a few Hashers did the walk down and up just to finish off the night.

Hi Hashers

A very special run/walk last Monday with the walkers being treated to a set trail and then abandoned by the hare to find their own way. Amazingly the runners and walkers arrived back at the Kayak Club at the same time. The HHH bbq went down a treat and the 'back to basics' sausages and onions on rolls was a reminder of Hash days of old. Thanks Phil for the catering, Hash Brown for the run and Retread for the pink chalked walk.

We celebrated Pluggers 61st birthday, although you could not read the writing on the delicious carrot cake as Goana's delicate writing ran all over the pretty yellow icing. Happy birthday Rick.

Plugger and Goanna have been appointed the Trail Masters for 2012. It will be their responsibility to organise the runs and train new Hashers in the art of setting a run, including cross country trails.

NEXT RUN - Monday 12 December

Rumour has it that there are 2 birthdays next week.

Narina will host the run from her and Phil's hacienda at 34 Trinity Drive, Goonellabah. The Trinity Drive christmas lights will be in progress however parking should not be an issue as we will arrive before sunset.

Hi Hashers,
Plugger and I volunteered to be trailmasters for Northern River HHH in
order that we may have a bit more future planning for the runs. Recently
it seems to be only organised the week before...
So we have about 50 regular runners - on and off - and last year only
27 people set runs or helped with food. Really we need everyone to set
at least one run in the year - if not more - however if you share (eg
Plugger and Goanna) - it is only really half a run each...
I have prepared a Receding Hareline sheet so you can date claim..
birthdays, marriages, holidays etc... Let me know if you want to claim
a date (or else be press-ganged into setting a run). If you need any
assistance in setting the actual run, or food I am sure someone will be
willing to help.

[hhh] Next run - 5 December run

Hi Hashers

We were blessed once again with perfect weather for our HHH Christmas camp at Boundary Creek. Several hardy souls set up camp on the inclement Thursday, however the afternoon and evening rain was only light mist and sitting by the fire was most enjoyable. Thanks John Gillet, the Roses, Hogans and Bruce and Guile for the timber that kept us toasty all weekend.

The company was brilliant as usual, with JTB entertaining us as usual. The silver theme costumes were very inventive with the Euston clan dressing as the NZ netball team The Silver Ferns and Brad taking on the kiwi name of Baabaara. The two flappers, Rhonda and Slurrrr, stole the show with short skirts, silver boots, sexy stockings and amazing silver wigs.

Four groups stayed on for an additional night on Sunday making it a 4 night camp - very relaxing and highly recommended for next year.

What a great 'recovery' run last Monday from Mary Gilhouleys. John the Baptist and Graeme Pollard set a cracking pace thru Rotary Park, but sending the slow runners on a 'short cut' to the Uni was a little rough when the runners opted to run the other way and back to the pub - if that keeps happening then the slow runners will become the fast runners. The pub was packed but we all still got a reasonably quick and tasty meal, the free beer went down well - great venue.

Next run - 5 December

The HHH BBQ is now stored in Lismore making it easy to organise a run from any venue ( hint, hint ). Who To and Hash Brown are going to show us how it is done by hosting the run from Heritage Park in Lismore. You will need to bring a chair as the hosts are only providing grass to sit on. I am not sure if dogs are allowed in the public park - please check out yourselves if unsure.

CAMP

Looks like being a cosy camp under tarps as the forecast is for heavy rain on Wed and Thur followed by showers on Sat and Sun.

There is no fire ban this weekend so we will be having a communal fire. A couple of people are bringing firewood, however if you have a few logs, offcuts or kindling to spare then toss them in when packing.

If anyone has an old tarp please bring it down to put over the fire so that we can heat the big hot water barrel. Poles, pegs and ropes are also needed if you have them.

The big Hash esky/fridge is going down for the beer keg and wine. Could people coming down on Friday or Saturday please bring a bag of ice to keep it chilled (deduct from the camp charge).

There will not be room in the Hash fridge for personal food so suggest your communal Sat night meal is taken down frozen, which will also help keep your personal food cold.

Thanks Jo for the use of your house and pool - yes one Hasher dived in, John the Baptist (well named). Jo can't count but we did have just enough snags for everyone.

We had a great send off for Rod and Faye last Monday hosted by Hash Brown, the mud cake was to die for. A team of strong lads and ladies are helping R&F load their furniture tomorrow morning (Thursday) and waving them and the 4 cats goodbye - next stop Clyde.

Medicare finally got a down down for helping set the run (setting the tricky bits). The walkers went on a long but interesting circuit to Tosha Falls, first time for some walkers.

The secret ingredient in the burgers was cocktail herb grown by Medicare but originally from Rick and Anna's garden. Cuttings available.

Tonight's run is from Hash Brown's and is your final chance to say adios to Rod and Faye. For those that don't know where HB lives the address is -

12 Bahama Avenue, Alstonville.

From Lismore take the Alstonville turn from the new bypass. Almost immediately take the right turn into Teven Road. Continue thru the roundabout and turn right into Panorama Park Estate. The next right is Bahama Avenue and HB is on the right.

We have a Panasonic 21inch TV that we no longer need and do not want to take with us. It is NOT digital but you can add a set top box. Ideal as a 2nd tele for the kids the plugs for game consoles are actually on the front. It works well and was a top tele when I brought it, its NOT a flat screen.

If you would like it please email me - it must be picked up by TOMORROW and we are not driving to HHH tonight but you are welcome to pick it up on your way from our house in Alstonville, I am here most of the day today and tomorrow.

As you know Rod and Faye are leaving us and the sunny North Coast for miserable old Melbourne town?!*?!*? You are all invited to the Federal Hotel, Alstonville next Sunday the 6th from 12 noon to bid them a fond farewell. The kitchen will be open for those that want lunch otherwise come for a drink and a laugh.

Aidan and Mandy are holding a pool party at their place on 12th. RSVP required.

Greetings from foggy San Francisco!

You don't know me, but for about 10 years I've got all the emails you and your fellow hashers send to each other. I've read the details about all the expeditions and events --- some of them, judging from the "thank-you's" afterwards --- must really be a tremendous amount of fun.

It all happened because many years ago (at least 10) I wanted to buy a Mini Cooper and I think there was a club down there, or maybe somebody just wanted to sell one, I can't remember.

Anyway, I got on your list somehow, and every week for ten years I have enjoyed so much reading what your next run will be that I have never wanted to tell you that I live 8,000 miles away.

I don't know if you all drive mini's but if you do I understand. I used to live in Los Angeles and I had a Morgan and when we took even short trips we always went out in groups together, in case one of them broke down. They seldom did, and it was great fun to have 8 or 10 Morgans out there driving together.

I've never been to Australia, but I did know quite a few Australians at one time; we spent a whole winter together in a small town in Norway called Lillehammer. This was long before the Olympics in 1994. The Australian Olympic skating team was there because the town had an Olympic-sized skating rink where they could practice. It was summer in Australia. They had to pay for their own plane fares to Lillehammer and all their expenses. I just happened to be there, I had been living in Sweden for many years and wanted to take a very long vacation before returning to the States. Norway was inexpensive then, no oil discovered yet.

I think there about 15 or 20 Australian skaters in the group and we became good friends. Aussies and Yanks get along well anyway. We spent a fair amount of time drinking and chasing girls. They were pretty tough guys and they saved my life a couple of times when I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They didn't care much for "wingeing poms". I don't know if they still feel that way.

We were in a small town in England last summer and on a bridge was a notice saying that anyone who defaced the bridge would be transported to Australia. The sign was a reproduction of the old original, because Australian tourists these days keep stealing them to take home.

Maybe my wife and I will get down there some day. If you ever get to San Francisco we'll show you the town. Meanwhile, please keep me on the list, OK? You never know...

A great run last night set by the junior Hashers from the Balzer Estate at Dunoon. We got to experience some great country with a cool dip to finish. Loved the pizzas - all individual. Thanks Norm and congrats on the retirement.

AUSTRALIA DAY -

1. The House with No Steps has allowed Hash to have a picnic at the waterfall/swimming hole tomorrow (Australia Day). Meet at 12 noon at the swimming hole. BYO everything.

2. A walk was organised by Hash Brown and Medicare tomorrow morning from Lennox to Broken Head (and back), however due to a foot injury the 'hares' will not be there. Please don't let this stop you - meet at the Lennox Surf Club at 5am with breakfast after. Another walk will be organised at the next low tide.

* First, many of the members/readers have been asking questions about the
recent floods in Australia and how this is effecting the hashes there. It
appears that many locations in Australia are truly rating World-Class shiggy
right now. If you have first-hand information, pictures, etc. about hashes
in Australia and the floods, please pass it on so I can provide it to the
readers of the periodicals and website. I truly hope all hashers there are
getting through this OK. Our beers are lifted to you in these trying,
shiggy times!

By now most of GT readers should have received the last edition of Global
Trash magazine and the joint GT/IHN calendar edition (unless your
subscription expired). If you do not get it by the end of this month, let
me know and I will resend it. As you know by now, GT and myself have moved
to China and I am still getting accustomed to the differences in delivery
times from here.
As stated in letters to those whose subscriptions are running out and to all
of you now, if you subscribe for the first time or renew and pay your
subscription by January 31st, you will receive a mini-hymnal in addition to
your February Global Trash. This is a perfect bound pocket sized book that

Hi Hashers

I hope that you all got the email about the move of the run last night from Norm's to the Goonellabah Tavern.

Over 20 hearty souls turned up for a fairly dry run and walk, apart from the creek crossing which saw the runners up to their waists (and Anna totally in the drink). It was Turkish Bath weather so no-one ended up with a cold. The $10 chinese buffet (with free drink) was a bonus.

Welcome to two hashers from the Half Way HHH in Brisbane.

Saddle Sore is suffering after a fall but still managed to drag himself to the tavern for a few VBs (pain killers) last night - all the best for a pain free recovery Rod.

NEXT WEEK'S RUN - 17th Jan - 6pm

Due to the continuing wet weather this run has been relocated to Procol's residence high on the hill at 35 Duke Street. Little Miss Pushy is the hash cook for the night.

Hash Run next week is at Goonengerry.
Meet at Goonengerry Public School. Start time 4pm and we will probably
car pool to get into the State Forest. The access roads, although firm
have quite a bit of water on them. The walking tracks are surprisingly dry!
Make your way to Federal, either from:
Lismore - suggest take the Bangalow Road and then turn left onto the
Eureka Road after Clunes. Follow this to Federal
Alstonville - suggest go through Booyong and then across to the Eureka
Road. However check whether the road is flooded at Booyong.
Ballina - use the highway and left onto to Coolaman Scenic

hi guys, a new and nasty bit of scareware is out there and as a few of my customers have been caught I thought I would pass on the warning.

if you get a sudden popup saying HDD Plus has found errors on your hard drive its a scam. the only problem is getting rid of the scamware as it will stop all legitimate protection programs. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS SOFTWARE. they will most likely also harvest your CC details and then its on for young and old.

above is a like describing the problem. you do not have to click on anything to get this one, just having the page open displaying the add is all it takes.

A terrific run from the House with No Steps - or House with Lots of Rocks. Rod ran us thru the property to the east and the farmers daughter led us to the top of Marshall Falls avoiding rocks and cow pats.

Gorgeous fresh salad and chicken provided by No More Gaps and Saddle Sore.

Two birthdays celebrated - Dragon the Chain (Vicki) and Who Too (Phil) who turned 68, or not???

With a lot of sadness Ali (Aunty Lush) received news this morning that her mum Mary Cleaver passed away peacefully at the age of 98 in Coffs Harbour in the early hours of this morning.

Our thoughts are with you Alison and Garry at this sad time.

Great to have a good roll up from the Browns, first of the run up to Xmas outings with ham etc, & super salads from Lou. The run took us thru paddocks and scrub with the reward being two drink stops (Fridge 2 Fridge). Thanks Pecker for the great idea - won't be the last run with this format. The left over camp wines also went down a treat.

Two new Hasher namings. Guilie is now know as MissTaken due to a confusing SMS about hospitals. Louise (Lou) is now known as Little Miss Pushy after repeated shoves (gentle - she is little) to unsuspecting runners. Hash Brown was in a most compromising position doing up his shoe laces when he received his nudge into the bush near Rotary Drive.

A reminder about Bob's Christmas shindig this Saturday night.
Bring a plate and your own refreshments to 1 Commercial Road, Alstonville.

Last Monday's run from Procol's was well attended. Hash Brown and Impulse took us thru scrub and we nearly lost Louise in the tall grass. We needed the numbers as there was a lot of Hash Camp food left over and the mixture of chilli, curry and pasta tasted pretty good. A lovely chocolate birthday cake was produced by GoAnna for Pluggers 60th birthday today (1 Dec). HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK.

NEXT MONDAY'S RUN

Monday 6 December, 6pm, from the Brown's residence 12 Bahama Avenue, Alstonville. Coming from Lismore continue thru Alstonville, turn left at Teven Road, right into Panorama Drive then right into Bahama. Hash caterers for the run are the Browns and Louise Hogan.

Hi everyone, thanks for a fab weekend its a struggle being indoors today..

For those who were interested here is the recipe for the Mexican dip I made on Saturday night;

These are the quantities I used for the large bowl of dip.

4 Avocado's roughly mushed with a fork

1 medium sized red onion finely chopped

1 medium red capsicum finely chopped

1 tin Mexican flavoured beans - drained of excess liquid but not rinsed

1 packet of taco seasoning

juice of 1 lime

1 large tub of sour cream (lite)

Mix everything together.

For a thicker or thinner dip use less or more sour cream, I used the whole tub on Saturday I would normally have this a bit thicker.   I would also normally add more lime juice so you could taste the lime, this is of course up to your own liking. For a chunkier dip don't chop the onion or capsicum so fine.

There isn't much firewood at Boundary Creek this year, and what is there will be wet. If you have any dry wood please bring some down for the communal fire.

Apparently there are some culverts cut into the road by National Parks (not sure where) so caution driving in.

The last gate to the property will be locked. If you can't find the key phone -

Hi Hashers

A great run from Debbie and Ray Woods' place last Monday. Ray proved to be a competent hare taking the pack through Tosha Falls and macadamia country. Lots of on backs, farmers friends and wet feet - well done. Food was great, thanks Debbie for hosting the big hungry crowd.

Welcome to new Hasher Liz Fawns who enjoyed a lively walk.

Next Monday's run will commence at 6.00pm from the Rose property, Fredericks Road, Canaiba. Coming from Lismore take the first right turn past the Lismore Airport, continue past the Caniaba School. At the Peredenyne roundabout turn right & stay on Fredericks Rd, which turns into a dirt road. Turn right again at the Rose entrance – house is about 1km from the entrance.

Suggest wearing your oldest joggers and bring a chair.

* If it is raining the run will be from the Gollan Hotel, Lismore.
